    Fr. Jon's Sabbatical

As you may already know I will be on sabbatical this summer (June, July & August). The Rev. Jeannie Driscoll, who is canonically resident in the Diocese of North Carolina, will serve as supply clergy on most Sundays and be on-call for pastoral emergencies. The wardens and vestry will be in charge while I'm away. Jennifer Hooper will keep things humming in the office.

What you may not know about clergy sabbaticals is that they have been a standard part of clergy Letters of Agreement in the Diocese for some time now, as they are in most Dioceses. To quote the Rev. Cn. James Harlan, " the product of a clergy sabbatical is a renewed priest." This renewal includes time for rest, reflection, recreation, travel and study.

My sabbatical will be based out of our home in Santa Fe with some travel around the southern Rocky Mountains. The focus of my study will be two of the "Five Diocesan Initiatives for Mission, Vitality and Baptismal Ministry" - #3, Becoming Beloved Community and #5, Evangelism. The list of all five initiatives is here . If you'd like to read Bishop Haynes' address to Annual Council regarding the Five Initiatives that link is here .
If you'd like to watch video of that address you can find it here .

    Blessings,

    Jon+

    Maundy Thursday Agape Meal
Doing a new thing at Epiphany

On Maundy Thursday our vestry hosted an Agape meal in the Parish Hall. Fr. Jon blessed the meal and those who gathered around the table, partaking in a selection of salads, fruits, cheeses, hummus, crackers, and other delicacies.

A huge thank you to our volunteers who made this event possible! Wanda Vaughan and Becca and Whitney Webb who prepared the delicious food. And to Katie Petrick, David Pugh, Laura Sadler and Epiphany friend Janet Aponte who decorated the tables and provided extra support.

    Stamp Out Hunger

The 30th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive (SOHFD) will be held Saturday, May 14. Leave a sturdy bag filled with non-perishable food items by your mailbox, and your letter carrier will collect your donation. SOHFD is the country’s largest one-day food drive and provides citizens with an easy way to donate food to those in need. Please consider filling your bag with cans of soup, vegetables, meats and fish and boxes of pasta or rice. Over 45 million Americans including 15 million children experience food insecurity, so your donation to this food drive is extremely important. All food collected Saturday, May 14, will be given to God’s Storehouse for distribution to those in our area who need help filling their cupboards.

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Members and friends of Epiphany will be helping God’s Storehouse on Monday, May 16. Our task will be to check each item of food received from the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive for current sell-by dates and to sort the food by type. Please consider taking two hours out of your day to help with this fun but important task. If you are willing to volunteer from 10:30-12:30 or 12:30-2:30, please text/phone Laura Sadler at 434-770-8367 or email your response or questions to laura.sadler1698@gmail.com. You will be working in a warehouse, so please wear your most comfortable shoes! We would love to see you at God’s Storehouse Monday, May 16.
