Ofrenda de Muertos: Altar of Remembrance (bring your photo):
In Latin America, the dead are remembered and celebrated in a special way each year. Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) is celebrated on November 2, All Soul’s Day, every year with colorful, joyous altars filled with mementos and photos of the beloved to honor and remember those who have died.
This year, which has been so difficult for so many, I would like for our Epiphany family to observe this custom. Please bring a photo of a loved one(s) who has died to be placed on our Ofrenda (altar of remembrance) on Sunday November 1st, which is All Saints Day. It does not matter when the loved one(s) passed away, although those who have died recently are to be especially remembered. You may also bring a photo(s) of a beloved pet, which will all be placed on a separate altar.
If you plan to participate please bring your photo(s) to church on Sunday October 18th or 25th or to the office by Tuesday October 27th. Any format is fine but framed photos up to 8”x10” would be ideal. Please be sure to label your photo with the person’s (or pet’s) name, relationship to you and when they died. Please remember the office is open Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-4:00pm.
Thank you and bless you,
