Epiphany Hosts a presentation by the Rev. Roy G. Pollina on his book Justified by Her Children: Deeds of Courage Confronting A Tradition of Racism.

The Rev. Roy Pollina, retired rector of Christ Church Martinsville and sometime supply priest at Epiphany will be here, in the Nave, to talk about his book, Justified by Her Children: Deeds of Courage Confronting A Tradition of Racism. His book is the account of the bravery and fortitude of the youth of Christ Church as they sought to stand with their rector and their bishop in an effort to integrate the Diocese of Southwest Virginia’s youth summer camp in the late 1950’s. In his foreword to the book, retired Bishop Heath Light wrote, “The picture painted by the Rev. Mr. Pollina is of racism confronted and beginning to be overcome, of alienation between generations moving toward reconciliation, and the death of one culture pointing toward the birth of another.” Please join us as we welcome Fr. Roy back to Epiphany. He will have books for sale and will sign books after his presentation.
